Taste the Place
Exceptional site-grown ciders
traditionally handmade in Mountain Park, New Mexico
From the blossom
to the bottle
Five acres. Less than 1000 trees.
Southern New Mexico canyon terroir renown for producing apples since the 1800's. Heritage homestead orchard with mountain springwater and beekeeper on site.
A cidermaster who's being doing it right here with these trees for a quarter of a century. A family of growers who nurture the orchard through all four seasons, and everything Nature might bring – The snow. The bears. The elk. The drought. And then the precious monsoon.
At Black Jack Orchard in Mountain Park, New Mexico, the place creates the taste – and it is the taste of a real, mountain-grown apple, farmed and bottled on the same five acres, by us.

Expressions
of the apple
We like to imagine that different varieties of apples have different aspirations for what to become.
It always begins with the fresh-pressed juice: rich and ideal for drinking right from the press, and for making traditional ciders, both sweet and dry – but other pressings might ask for a customized process, or a champagne-like effect, or a flavor pairing with site-grown cherries, apricot, or hops... usually encouraging a little naturally-achieved sparkle (or a lot), perhaps slow-aging on toasted oak or European chestnut, or just following the cidermaster's inspiration.
With nothing artificial and offering products with no sulfites, we help our apples express who they are, in as many refreshing ways as we can.
“The place itself is just phenomenal, and the ciders were the freshest we've ever tasted. You really can taste the apple. And all the varieties! We especially liked the Ruby Throat cherry blend.”
— Greg & Rosetta Carrington, Santa Fe NM
“Ciders are so much more interesting than craft beers nowadays, and these guys have their product line nailed. Their hopped ciders really impressed this longtime IPA fan."
— Troy Ecklund, Chicago IL
“We loved the beautiful drive up from the desert into the mountains, seeing the orchard and their cidermaking process, and trying all the different kinds. We joined the cider club and can't wait for the first delivery.”
— Darcy Wright & family, El Paso TX
